The Spruce Grove Saints were driven out of the land of victory by the Sherwood Park Crusaders tonight.

The team lost 6-3 at home in the Grant Fuhr Arena. This moves them to 24-6 in the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s 2019 season. Sherwood Park began the night with a quick run of points on the board. William Zapernick and Arjun Atwal earned their notches during the first period and the Saints did not respond until the second. At that point, Nick Leyer and Graham Gamache came on board to put out a fighting chance.

But it was not to be.

The Crusaders scored a further three goals in the third period and sealed off the night in spite of a valiant effort from Nick Leyer and Stanley Cooley early on to continue the contest.

The Saints are in action at home tomorrow against the Lloydminster Bobcats. The game begins at 2 p.m.
