Ringette players shine on ice at skills competition

The Winnipeg Ringette League hosted its annual All Star Games and skills competition at the Seven Oaks Arena on Dec. 29.

The annual event draws ringette players from a number of teams from not only Winnipeg, but also the Interlake.

Players from The Selkirk Stingers competed in the Vickar Automotive Group U14 Skills Competition, whereas players from the Interlake Ignite participated in the Boston Pizza All Star Game.

Three players from the Selkirk Stingers U14B Team competed in the skills competition. The competition featured challenges, such as fastest skater, hardest shot and the goaltender challenge.

Jorja Profopick, who plays for the Selkirk Stingers U14B team won the hardest shot competition when she registered her best shot at 84 kilometres per hour. Madison Holtman finished third in the fastest skater competition in a best time of 23.83 seconds. Olivia Stewart placed second in the goaltender challenge.

The 10th annual event which featured the U19A All Star Game and also the U19B All Star Game.

Seven players from the Interlake Ignite participated in the U19A All Star Game.

The Blue team defeated the Red team 9-8 after overtime was need to determine a winner in the U19A All Star Game.

The Red Team defeated the Blue team 8-0 in the U19B All Star Game.
