YES Theatre and its artistic director, Alessandro Costantini, call Mary Poppins the perfect family musical. And they hope to have selected the perfect cast for YES Theatre’s orchestra production of the classical family tale, which opens Dec. 12.

“After a record-breaking summer festival with MAMMA MIA! and James and the Giant Peach … YES Theatre is thrilled to present yet another family musical this holiday season,” the company said in a release. “This touching and heartwarming classic will be brought to life with a live 16-piece orchestra and a cast of 24 actors.

“Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny trying to remind us that ‘anything can happen, if you let it.’”

Tackling the iconic role of Mary Poppins is YES Theatre Alumni Leah Perreault, who was last seen as Mother Abbess in The Sound Of Music. Audiences will also remember Leah as Amber in our 2016 production of Hairspray!

Michael MacEachern, last seen as Sam in this summer’s smash hit Mamma Mia will return to play the tap dancing and charming chimney sweep, Burt.

Local favourites and YES Theatre stars Jake Deeth and Janie Pinard as Mr. and Mrs. Banks. The audience will remember Jake and Janie from numerous leading roles with YES Theatre. Both artists are celebrating 11 seasons with the company.

And rounding out the family is Sidney Cassidy, last seen as James in this summer’s production of James and the Giant Peach as Jane Banks and, in his YES Theatre debut, Cole Leblanc as Michael Banks.
They’ll be joined on stage by many YES Theatre Alumni including: Jenna Daypuk, Kelsey Tyson, Nathan Scruton, Darshan Geer, Katie Behun, Jess Crowe, Scott Denniston, Colin Eady, Tessa Gooden, Darquise Lauzon, Montana McCulloch, Elizabeth Natti, Brooke Palladino, Ellie Rajotte, Maryn Tarini, Chloe Theriault, Hannah Waterson, and Sean Lynott.

YES Theatre calls Mary Poppins “a practically perfect musical for the entire family.”
