Cornwall police lay charges in Pitt / Sixth stabbing

A 27-year-old woman is facing a charge following an investigation into an early morning stabbing on Thursday that closed Pitt and Sixth streets to traffic for the bulk of the day.

Police alleged the woman stabbed a 39-year-old man she knows during an altercation. Paramedics responded to the incident and then called upon police to attend, with the criminal investigations and forensic identification units leading the investigation. The man was taken by air ambulance to Ottawa hospital to be treated for critical injuries. Police said investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public at-large.

Karley Billard, 27, was charged with aggravated assault.

She was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

A 26-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing four charges after a police investigation on Thursday.

Police alleged the woman threatened to harm her ex-boyfriend during an altercation, then subsequently assaulted him with a knife.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was charged with assault with a weapon; uttering threats; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and, breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

She was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

A 20-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing five charges after police were called to the Cornwall Community Hospital on Thursday.

Police alleged the woman damaged a window, door and bed, threatened to kill hospital staff members, threatened to burn down the hospital and the police station. Police also alleged the woman assaulted the officer who responded to the call.

Jesilyn Crowder, 20, was charged with mischief under $5,000; two counts of uttering threats; assault police; and, breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

She was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

A 30-year-old man from Cornwall is facing a charge after police investigated a complaint received early Friday morning.

Police alleged the man assaulted his wife.

The man, whose identity was not released, was charged with domestic assault.

A 36-year-old man from Cornwall is facing two charges after police investigated a complaint received Thursday.

Police alleged the man assaulted another man he knows during an altercation, seriously enough for the other man to seek medical attention for his injuries.

Cory Carriere, 36, was charged with assault causing bodily harm, and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on July 25.

A 37-year-old man from Cornwall is facing a charge after police received a complaint on Thursday.

Police alleged the man struck another man he knows with a bat during an argument.

Erik Johnsen, 37, was charged with assault with a weapon.

Theft, noxious substance

A 59-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing two charges after police investigated a complaint on Wednesday.

Police alleged the woman took a prescription drug that didn’t belong to her, then attempted to administer it to someone else without cause. She was arrested at police headquarters on Thursday.

Suzanne Seguin, 59, was charged with theft under $5,000, and attempting to administer a noxious substance.

She was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on July 16.

Theft

A 13-year-old boy is facing a charge after police responded to a Cornwall Square business on Thursday.

Police alleged the teen removed merchandise from the store without paying for it.

The boy, whose identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with theft under $5,000.

He was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court at an undisclosed later date.
