It’s been 50 years since a group of close knit friends were born in 1969 and to commemorate the occasion, they are planning a large birthday celebration in Selkirk.

The event is not only a birthday party, but also a fundraiser for Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen as proceeds from the tickets sales will be going to support the soup kitchen.

Tammy Belanger, Jennifer Storoschuk and Joe Loschiavo are taking the lead when it comes to planning the birthday bash at the Selkirk Memorial Hall on Sept. 21.

“It’s a bit of a reunion because we haven’t seen some people for 30 years,” Belanger said. “We’ve got people coming from out of town.”
Belanger said that Bob Somerfeld of Somerfeld Sound will be playing the tunes.

“That’s going to be a throwback for us and it’s going to be strictly ‘80s music,” Belanger said. “What happens at the Memorial (Hall) stays at the Memorial.”

Tickets for the event at $20 each and can be purchased in advance by emailing Storoschuk at rickjenn@mymts.net.
